Why did I decide to do a Pigeon Pope Trash art deck?

I started this art piece because I wanted a visual representation of the idea of a pigeon. However, not just any pigeon, but an urban pigeon which to me adds a little wrinkle. I first thought of this pigeon religion when I was having some fun freestyle rapping with a friend and I was was on trying to find a word that rhymed with "pigeon"; while staying on the beat. (not an easy task) , to pull off this feat one must let go of all inhabitations, and speak from the soul with no fear or hesitations in mili-seconds. With no fear or hesitation the word I chose for "pigeon" was "religion." It wasn't religion as a faith but as a creed or a way of life. Later I began to think of this phrase to express the way of life that I felt everyday as a blue collar worker.

Every job has a culture; whether the job is set in an office space or a construction worksite there is a culture there. A culture that is shaping who you are unconsciously, and dictates how you perceive the world around you. In my art I seek/sought to express the various multitudes of aspects to being a blue collar worker through the pigeon. The blue collar worker is stout, durable, and reliable. In my humbled opinion, the pigeon is also. Because religion reminds me of Christianity, I wanted to use Old English lettering. The lettering is where my journey began in making this Dirty Pigeon Religion project.
